Teenage West Brom striker Chris Wood has signed a two-year professional deal with the Baggies, with an option for a further two years.
The 17-year-old, who has played twice in the Premier League this season, is in New Zealand's squad for the Confederations Cup.
He joined the Baggies in August 2007 after spells with Waikato FC and Hamilton Wanderers in his homeland.
The UK passport holder made his first-team debut at Portsmouth in April.
Albion manager Tony Mowbray said: "I'm delighted Chris has been rewarded with his contract. Hopefully he is the first of a handful of young players who will be signing pro contracts over the summer.
"We feel the future is very bright for the players who are now starting to emerge from the academy, some of whom were on the bench at Blackburn on Sunday."
