Mowbray targets Liverpool upset

Mowbray expects 'professional' Liverpool

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray is confident of upsetting Liverpool when the two sides meet in the crucial Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Baggies need to avoid defeat at The Hawthorns to go into the final game of the season with a chance of staying up.

Mowbray said: "Liverpool would not be first choice of teams to play but that is the way that the fixtures come out.

"We have shown in recent weeks that we can score goals and that is what we have to try to do again this Sunday."

Liverpool still harbour hopes of winning the title, although rivals Manchester United need only a point against Arsenal on Saturday to retain the trophy.

Albion, meanwhile, have yet to score against Liverpool in the Premier League, let alone pick up a point against them.

But Mowbray can take heart from the fact that fellow strugglers Middlesbrough have beaten Rafael Benitez's side this season.

"For us, we will have to be at our very best and they will have to be a bit below par," he said.

"They have lost two games this season and one of those was against Middlesbrough, a team who are on the same number of points as us.

"We can take a little bit of belief from the fact that you can catch them on a day when they are not quite at it for whatever reason.

"If the worst comes to the worst you will still see a wholehearted performance trying to beat one of the better teams in the world.

"That is what we have got to try and do regardless of our predicament and that is what we will be doing on Sunday."
