Baggies trio in fitness progress

Three injured West Brom players could recover in time for their crucial game against Liverpool on Sunday.

Defender Paul Robinson (ankle), keeper Scott Carson (hand) and midfielder Robert Koren (hamstring) all missed the victory over Wigan.

"They are having fitness tests so that would suggest they are pretty close," said West Brom manager Tony Mowbray.

"Even if they fail those tests I would suggest that by later in the week they should be OK and in contention."

If Carson does recover, Mowbray will have to decide whether to restore him to the team or keep Dean Kiely, who made his first league appearance of the season against Wigan.

"It's my job to make those decisions and if they are both in contention and training by the weekend then I've got to make the decision I feel is right for the team, which is what I'll do," said Mowbray.

"But there are tough decisions every weekend when you're picking players for teams and having to leave people out."

"It will be no different this week. I have choices to make."

Robinson will contest the left-back position with Marek Cech, who stood in for him at the weekend but had to be substituted after 75 minutes because of cramp.

"I'm pretty sure one of them will be fit and given the importance of the game they will probably both be fit, but let's wait and see," said Mowbray.
