West Brom can stay up - Greening

Jonathan Greening
Greening sees West Brom's home form as the key to survival

West Brom skipper Jonathan Greening is convinced his side are good enough to stay in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old midfielder believes the Baggies, currently bottom of the table, will see their results improve if they carry on playing the way they are.

Greening told BBC WM: "I definitely think the performances haven't been too bad - we've been playing quite well.

"We know we're good enough to stay in the league, but mistakes are coming in at the moment."

He added: "I think that's the difference between the Championship and the Premier League. You can make mistakes in the Championship and you probably won't get punished for them.

"In the Premier League you don't half get punished for them."

West Brom's back-to-back home wins over Tottenham and Manchester City last month dragged them back towards the pack at the foot of the Premier League table, and Greening reckons it is their form at the Hawthorns that will determine whether they can survive.

"We won our last two home games and we've got a massive one coming up next against Middlesbrough, my old team," he said.

"If we take the full three points that'll take Middlesbrough back down and it would be a good three home games in a row for us."
