West Bromwich Albion have signed Czech goalkeeper Michal Danek on loan for the rest of the season from Viktoria Plzen. The 24-year-old has recently spent time training with the Baggies, although he is awaiting international clearance.
Albion have an option to sign him permanently in the summer, or extend his loan for a further six months and possibly sign him next January.
The Baggies have also signed Manchester City striker Ishmael Miller for an initial 900,000.
Miller has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal and his fee could rise to 1.4m depending on performance-related add-ons.
The Baggies took up their option to buy the striker, a clause they inserted in the deal which brought Miller to the club on a season-long loan in August. Miller's deal includes the option of an extra year.
Boss Tony Mowbray said: "I'm delighted Ishmael is now our player.
"I saw him play a few times for Manchester City reserves when he was played out on the left wing.
"But we saw his strength, size, power and pace and thought we could utilise it.
On Danek, Mowbray said: "I've seen enough of Michal to know he can forge a career for himself here," he said.
"Countries like the Czech Republic and Poland seem to develop good goalkeepers. They have good role models.
"Chelsea's Petr Cech is one of the best in the world and hopefully Michal can strive to get to that level.
"There is a language barrier at the moment, but let's get him into training, get him settled, find him somewhere to live and then we'll see how quickly he is ready for action."
