Hoefkens had one year remaining on his contract at Stoke

The Belgian, 28, had a year left on his contract with the Potters and had been invited to discuss a new contract.

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray said: "I've watched him play for his country and I feel he's just the type of footballer who will enhance our style of play."

Hoefkens has made 89 league appearances since joining Stoke two years ago.
