Baggies start search for new boss
Nigel Pearson has taken over a caretaker-manager of West Brom
Pearson has stepped up from assistant to caretaker-manager
West Brom have started the process of finding a successor to Bryan Robson as manager of the club.

Robson was let go by the club on Monday after a poor start to the season.

"The board is inviting applications with a view to forming a shortlist of candidates as soon as possible," said a Baggies statement.

"Following interviews with selected candidates, an appointment will be made and there will be no further comment from the club until that time."

Former Charlton boss Alan Curbishley was an early favourite but has distanced himself from the job.

Nigel Pearson has taken temporary charge of the Baggies side and is likely to be one of the leading contenders.

The statement added: "It is most important that the right individual, who has the desire and motivation to continue the long-term building process at the club, is appointed."
