Watford have ended winger Andros Townsend's loan spell while defender Rob Kiernan has made a one-month youth loan switch to Wycombe.

Townsend, 19, has gone back to parent club Tottenham three months earlier than planned after playing just three times for the Hornets.

He also had a spell at Ipswich cut short earlier in the campaign.

"It is a shame it hasn't worked out for either of us," Watford boss Malky Mackay told the club website.

Meanwhile 20-year-old Kiernan embarks on his third loan stint of the season.

The midfielder-turned-defender has spent time with Yeovil and Bradford this term, appearing three times for the Glovers and eight times for the Bantams.

Both of his games for Watford have come in the FA Cup, the most recent as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to Brighton in January.

"He's a good young player who we've been keeping an eye on," Wycombe boss Gary Waddock told the club website.

"As soon as we knew he was available for loan we were interested.

"He is looking to play first-team football and will be a good addition to the squad."

On top of his loan spells this season the Republic of Ireland Under-21 centre-half spent time at Kilmarnock last term, where he played five times for the Scottish Premier League outfit.

Mackay added: "Experience at league level is what Rob needs right now, so we'll be watching his progress closely over the next month."
