Sodje joined Reading from Brentford for 350,000 in 2006
Watford have signed Reading centre-half Sam Sodje on a month's loan to ease their injury crisis at the back.
The 29-year-old Nigerian, who has not played for the Royals this season, had a loan spell at Charlton last season.
Watford have defenders Lloyd Doyley, Mat Sadler and now captain Jay Demerit all struggling with injury.
Sodje could make his Hornets debut against Sheffield United on Saturday if Demerit fails to recover from a hamstring injury.
Hornets boss Aidy Boothroyd had told BBC Three Counties Radio: "Our success in the Carling Cup [beating West Ham in the third round] has brought in money that we didn't think we had, and that has given me an opportunity to bang on a door and say 'we need a little bit of help'.
"Thankfully the chairman agrees that we need to bring someone in on loan, so that is what we are doing."
