Midfielder Taundry was making his first start since October
Walsall boss Chris Hutchings was pleased with the efforts of his recalled players after the 1-1 draw with Charlton at the Banks's Stadium.
Midfielder Richard Taundry and full-back Netan Sansara returned to the starting line-up for the game.
"Richard was straining at the leash, and I thought he gave a good performance," Hutchings told BBC WM.
"We put Jamie Vincent in at centre-back and Netan at left-back, and I thought we defended very well."
The Saddlers have injury problems, with defenders Manny Smith and Mark Hughes still unable to train properly ahead of Saturday's game at home to Bristol Rovers.

Walsall's strike options will also be limited for that fixture as top scorer Troy Deeney serves a one-match ban for his midweek dismissal, and second leading marksman Steve Jones is still to return from injury.
And to add to Hutchings' woes, right-back Rhys Weston came off during the first half against Charlton because of a hamstring problem.
"It's been tough for us, but we knew it'd be tough with the games coming thick and fast," noted the Saddlers boss.
"We don't want to get too many injuries and we've got a suspension to deal with now."
