Mattis joined Barnsley from Bury last season

Walsall have signed Dwayne Mattis on a free transfer from Barnsley, making him their third new player in three days.

The 26-year-old midfielder played four games for the Saddlers on loan last autumn before suffering a broken leg.

Mattis was with Huddersfield and Bury before joining Barnsley, from where he was released at the end of last season.

He said: "I'm excited to be back. I enjoyed my football the last time I was here and to be honest it brought back my love for the game."
