Boertien is eager to get a full pre-season under his belt
Walsall defender Paul Boertien has agreed to sign a new contract at the Banks's Stadium.
The former Derby County left-back struggled with injury during his first season with the Saddlers.
"I am pleased to get my contract sorted. I was very keen to stay here," Boertien said.
"It's a good club with some very talented young players coming through who will only benefit from their experiences over the past season."
Boertien became first choice left-back following Daniel Fox's January move to Coventry City, the 29-year old making 23 first team appearances for the Saddlers.
With the right manager and the right signings, there is no reason why we can't push on and do very well next season

"From a personal point of view it is important that I get a full pre-season under my belt and then kick on from there," Boertien added.
"I missed the final games of the season with a broken toe, but I have started running again over the past four or five days and I will be fully fit and raring to go when training starts."
Walsall are still searching for a new manager to succeed Richard Money, and it is an appointment that Boertien awaits with interest.
"It's such an important decision. That is why the board are taking their time to make sure it's the right man for the job.
"With the right manager and the right signings, there is no reason why we can't push on and do very well next season," he said.
