Tranmere striker Marvin Sordell says his new side must get a result against Southend on Saturday so they can get out of the League One drop zone.

Sordell, 18, signed on loan from Watford until the end of the season.

"We got a result on Tuesday and if we get another result on Saturday we're out of the relegation zone," Sordell told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"With just three points we could climb five places, which is brilliant really so we just need wins."

Meanwhile, the versatile Ash Taylor will be out of action for up to three weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Gillingham on Tuesday.

Defender Ian Goodison will have his ankle assed before the trip to Roots Hall, after he picked up a problem in the 1-0 defeat by Oldham last week.
