Chris Greenacre has scored two goals in six league starts this season
Tranmere Rovers striker Chris Greenacre could be out of action for up to two months with a foot injury.
Greenacre dislocated a bone and ruptured a tendon in the 1-0 win over Brighton on 20 December.
And Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore does not expect to see him back in first-team contention again until March.
"Greeny has done a tendon in his foot," said Moore. "He'll be in a cast for four weeks and it will be six to eight weeks before he's able to play."
There is better news for Rovers on the injury front as Terry Gornell should be fit for Saturday's home game with Peterborough United (10 January, 1500 GMT) having recovered from concussion sustained against Walsall.
Moore also thinks Craig Curran may be back to playing earlier than expected.
"We're waiting on Craig Curran," said the Rovers boss. "He's going to step up his training today with Les Parry. We thought it might be three or four weeks, but with a bit of luck it might be 10 days."
