Shotton poised to rejoin Tranmere

Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has confirmed Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton will rejoin the club on loan for the remainder of the season.

Shotton, 20, spent three months on loan at Prenton Park earlier this year.

Speaking after his sides' 2-1 home win against Walsall on Sunday, Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I spoke to Tony Pulis last week.

"We expect Shotton here on Wednesday to get the papers signed and then he'll be here until the end of the season."

Rovers reached Moore's festive target of seven points with wins against Brighton and Walsall either side of a draw at Hereford.

And he felt his side fully deserved their 2-1 win against Walsall.

Captain Antony Kay scored an injury-time winner after the visitors had equalised with a Marco Reich penalty, following Ian Goodison's first-half opener.

Moore added: "I don't think there's any doubt we deserved to win, we were the side trying to win the game, we've pressed and pressed."
