Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore believes his switch to a 4-3-3 formation is paying dividends.

Rovers have scored 14 goals in the four games since Moore adopted the formation, including a 4-1 win at Southport on Tuesday night.

"We are getting goals from all over and that's the big thing," Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"That's what was missing last year, it's pleasing that they are taking on board what we're trying to do."

Craig Curran scored twice, with Andy Taylor and Ian Moore scoring a goal a piece as Rovers beat Southport 4-1.

The win at Southport follows on from Rovers scoring four at Marine and six against Heswall.

His [trialist Charlie Barnett's] movement is good and he sees a pass, the big thing is he sees it and can play it

The only game in which they have drawn a blank was the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool.

Trialist Charlie Barnett played the full 90 minutes in central midfield against Southport following his release by Liverpool this summer.

Barnett, who was part of the Reds FA Youth Cup winning side in 2006, impressed Moore with his retention of the ball.

"You don't (give the ball away) when you're at Liverpool.

"His movement is good and he sees a pass, the big thing is he sees it and can play it."

"There's a lot of players who can see it and can't play it."
