Spurs wing-back Christian Ziege has targeted a return to the international set-up with Germany. The player, who has only managed three games for Spurs this season due to injury problems, has been out of the international set-up for 13 months.
"My main target was just to play again but always at the back of my mind I wanted to play for Germany," he said.
"I'm only 32 and the best thing you can have as a footballer is playing in such big tournaments like Euro 2004."
Ziege, whose contract at White Hart Lane ends this summer, faces a race against time to make the Germany squad for Portugal.
But he is already dreaming of the 2006 World Cup in his homeland.
"That would be the best ever," he added. "I will be 34 and I would love to make it there.
"To play in a tournament is great enough but to play in your own country, that happens very rarely. It would be a huge thing for me.
"We were close to winning the World Cup last time and if we go that close, to be there and win it and it being in Germany, there can be nothing better."
