Torquay United turn down bid for defender Mark Ellis

Mark Ellis
Ellis started his career at Exeter City and joined Torquay in 2008

Torquay United manager Paul Buckle has revealed the Devon club have rejected an offer for defender Mark Ellis.

The 22-year-old is a regular member of the Gulls' starting line-up, making 25 appearances and scoring twice so far this season for the League Two outfit.

Buckle told BBC Radio Devon: "We have turned down a bid for Mark from a League One side.

"The offer is nowhere near the valuation we're looking for and Mark is aware of the situation."

The Torquay boss also remains confident his players can continue to attract attention from other clubs during the January transfer window.

"If the players keep performing at the levels they are, then I'm sure there will be more offers," said Buckle.

Torquay remain in the League Two promotion mix and are just four places and four points outside the play-off zone.
