Barnes has netted one goal for the Pilgrims this season

Torquay United have signed striker Ashley Barnes on loan from Plymouth Argyle for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old has made seven appearances for the Pilgrims in the Championship this season, scoring once against Reading in December.

Barnes told Torquay's official website: "I'm looking to come to Plainmoor and make a good impression.

"It's nice to be staying on loan at a local club and I have come here to do a job and hopefully score some goals."

The striker signed for Plymouth from non-league Paulton Rovers in 2007 and has had loan spells at Oxford United, Salisbury City and Eastbourne Borough.
