Torquay United have signed former Swindon Town youngster Ben Joyce, who made four first-team appearances for the Robins last season.
The 19-year-old striker, who has been on trial at the club, impressed in Thursday night's friendly win over local side Buckland Athletic.
Joyce scored two goals for the Gulls as they beat Buckland 4-0.
Torquay are also reported to be close to agreeing a deal for Kettering Town central defender Guy Branston.
Kettering manager Mark Cooper told BBC Radio Devon: "Guy's in talks with Torquay and the club are in talks with Torquay.
"If they match our valuation, which I don't think is far away, then he'll become a Torquay United player."
Cooper added: "It'll be a big loss for us but things move on and that's football."
Torquay boss Paul Buckle has previously said he is only looking to sign two or three new players before the start of the next season.
