Buckle unhappy at first-half show

Paul Buckle says he was much happier with Torquay's second-half showing

Torquay boss Paul Buckle was unhappy at the way his side played in the first half of Saturday's 2-2 draw at Woking.

Two down at the break, Buckle admitted: "We gave away two poor goals, didn't clear our lines, tried to play in the wrong areas and got punished."

But the third-placed Gulls rallied to extend their unbeaten run to 16 games.

"It was a case of not panicking. It was a case of making sure we didn't gift Woking any more golden opportunities," Buckle told BBC Radio Devon.

"I said to the players that if we did that and we were solid I always felt we could score goals and the second half was outstanding."

After winning just once in this season's first seven games, Torquay have not lost since the 1-0 defeat by Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough in early September.

Their next date is on Saturday at Plainmoor when they entertain Blue Square Premier rivals Oxford United, 14 places (and 16 points) below them in the table.
