Swindon Town manager Danny Wilson says the return of midfielder Jonathon Douglas lifted his side as they beat Colchester 2-1 on Saturday.
The 28-year-old missed five matches with a broken toe and Swindon won just once in his absence.
"He gives everyone a shot in the arm, fans alike as well as the team," Wilson told BBC Wiltshire.
"He gives as that stability in there. He's a good player in that position and that's why we brought him to the club."
Wilson continued: "What he did help was the energy of David Prutton, who I thought was outstanding for us.
"They way they complimented each other was terrific."
Saturday's victory sees Swindon climb to 13th in League One, six points off the play-offs.
"What we've done in most games this season against the top teams is play well," he said.
"So that's the belief we need to get from games like this. We can beat them and we have in four or five games this season.
"After last week's result [a 3-0 home defeat to Charlton] lots of people began to doubt us.
"But why should they? We're still in a very, very healthy position in the league."
