Swindon manager Danny Wilson is expecting clubs to come in for star striker Simon Cox during the summer.
Cox, 22, was joint top-scorer in League One last season with 29 goals and it is believed League One champions Leicester City are leading the chase to sign him.
"I half expect something to happen but it's got to be right for the player and the club," Wilson told BBC Points West.
"If that is the case we'll wish him well and send him on his way, but we're not anywhere near that at the moment."
As yet Wilson has not received any offers from clubs, although a host of scouts are reported to have watched Cox in action this season.
He ended up sharing the division's Golden Boot award with Rickie Lambert after finding the net four times in the final two games of the season and ended the season with 32 goals in total.
Wilson added that he would want to see a more significant goal contribution from his slimmed-down squad next season whether Cox stays or not.
"If something does happen I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later and I hope it doesn't drag on," said the manager.
"Plan B will be trying to get someone to score 30 goals for you again and there's not many about.
"We'll be looking around and hopefully we can assess and sign somebody like Simon was with potential that was there to be seen."
