Swindon Town have been drawn at home to Championship side Queen's Park Rangers in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The London club - backed by F1 multi-millionaires Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore - have targeted a return to the Premier League by 2010.
Town manager Maurice Malpas told BBC Radio Swindon his team would be out to cause an upset.
"I'm delighted with the draw. It's a home tie which I think is important and hopefully we can progress."
Malpas added: "It's a decent draw in terms of who we're playing against.
"They've got aspirations of getting into the Premier League, have spent a few quid and so hopefully it will be a good game."
Swindon have got a good opportunity to enhance their reputation by winning games against teams like QPR

Swindon have a dismal recent record in cup competitions, failing to get past the opening rounds since the turn of the century.
Some Town managers have seen them as very much second best to the League, something Malpas is keen to change.
"The cups are important, I've always taken them seriously.
"Swindon have got a good opportunity to enhance their reputation by winning games against teams like QPR, so I don't see the point in taking them lightly," said Malpas.
The game is expected to be played at the County Ground on Tuesday 12 August.
