Malpas hopes to sign new players
Swindon Town
New Swindon boss Maurice Malpas is hoping to sign two or three players by the end of the January transfer window.

The club are thought to be close to signing a young defender on loan after their transfer embargo was lifted.

And Malpas told BBC Radio Swindon: "There's one or two players I know we can get on loan so now it's a case of going to get them tied up.

"There are one or two players available for a small transfer fee which we're trying to do as well."

I'd like to keep all the players here and add another two or three

Maurice Malpas

Malpas only officially took over as manager on Tuesday after Andrew Fitton's takeover was completed but he has already spent some time at the club.

"Before we get to the end of the transfer window I'll have a better knowledge of what our players are like," he said.

"One or two players who think they're going to be squad players will possibly want to move on, and we'll deal with that but I'd like to keep all the players here and add another two or three."

However, Malpas has confirmed the club are not chasing Hibernian midfielder Brian Kerr.
