Striker Luke Moore is a former England under-21 international
Swansea City have completed the signing of West Bromwich Albion striker Luke Moore on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old goes straight into Saturday's squad for the FA Cup third round tie at home to Colchester United.
"I had a few offers from other clubs," said Moore.
"But as soon as I came down to speak to the manager and chairman Huw Jenkins I was very committed to Swansea and I wasn't going to go back on my word."
Moore won the FA Youth Cup with Aston Villa in 2002 before scoring 14 goals in his five years as a professional - including a Premier League hat-trick at Middlesbrough in February 2006.
The former England under-21 international signed for Premier League new boys Albion in the summer of 2008 in a £3m deal after a three-month loan spell at the Hawthorns.
But Moore scored just five goals in two seasons for the Baggies before being left out of their 25-man 2010/11 Premier League squad last September - and subsequently went out on loan to Derby where he scored four goals in nine starts.
"I spoke to a lot of people about the manager before I came down for talks and they all had nothing but praise for him as a person and a coach," added Moore.
"I needed confirmation for myself on how he saw me fitting in to the squad, but as soon as I spoke to him I knew there was only one place for me.
"There is a great set up here at Swansea, from the stadium and the pitch to the squad itself. There are some very good young players here and I think everyone in the game is well aware of their unique style of play.
"They always play good football, which I think will suit me. I'm really looking forward to it.''
And Swans boss Brendan Rodgers believes Moore will be a success at the Liberty Stadium.
"I'm delighted we've signed him on a permanent deal rather than a loan," said Rodgers.
"Luke comes to the club at a great age to fulfil the undoubted potential that everyone knows he has.
"His pace, power and finishing ability will add another dimension to our game," added Rodgers. He's also got a great hunger for the game as he hasn't quite fulfilled his potential yet.
"He's quite similar to Scott Sinclair in that he needs to find a home and play football on a regular basis.
"I've known Luke since he was a youth player at Aston Villa and watched him score many, many goals.
"I know what I'm working with and I'm convinced he will grow with us over the next few years.
"We are all looking forward to the start of what should be a great Swansea career."
Swans chairman, Huw Jenkins, added: "Luke was recognised as a young player with a big talent at Aston Villa - and that's why West Brom spent £3m to get him over two years ago.
"Brendan feels he can work with Luke to release his full potential. And with the type of club we are and the football we play, I'm convinced he can bring a great deal to this football club.
"That's why we are all delighted we've signed him on a permanent contract.''
