Swansea City are set to give a trial to former Charlton Athletic defender Yassin Moutaouakil.
The 24-year-old Frenchman has been released by the Addicks after an unsuccessful three years at the Valley.
Moutaouakil, who plays at right-back, made just 29 appearances since joining from French side Chateauroux in a £400,000 deal.
He also spent three months on loan at Motherwell last season where he featured 15 times.
Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers said: "He was the captain of the French Under-21s and fits the bill in terms of how we like to play football.
"It is an opportunity that came for us and we can have a look at him for a week."
The trial is likely to fuel further speculation over the future of Spanish right-back Angel Rangel, who is wanted by Blackpool.
Swansea have already turned down a bid from the Seasiders, but it is understood Rangel is interested in a move to the Premier League new boys.
