Lee Trundle left Swansea for Bristol City in a �1m deal in 2007

Striker Lee Trundle says he hopes to sort out his playing future soon after being told he will not be offered a contract at Swansea City.

The 33-year-old was released by Bristol City last month, having been on loan at the Swans for much of last season.

Trundle was desperate to secure a deal at the Liberty Stadium, but was only offered a coaching role.

"I have a couple of offers on the table so I'll sit down with my agent and see what's out there," he told BBC Sport.

"It would have been better if I'd known at the end of the season [that I wasn't being offered a deal], clubs start back to training [this week].

"When I came back to Swansea on loan I said that I wanted to finish my playing career here so it's disappointing, it's my number one club, the club that I love.

"We spoke about my staying on in a coaching role, but I've got a lot left in me as a footballer and wouldn't want to finish now."

The player known as 'Magic Daps' enjoys cult hero status at Swansea after his successful first spell in south Wales when Trundle scored 85 goals in just 151 starts, following a move from Wrexham in 2003.

He left Swansea, though, in the summer of 2007 in a £1m move to Ashton Gate as Bristol City had reached the Championship, while the Swans were still in League One.

The Liverpudlian scored seven goals in 53 league appearances for the Robins, although over half those appearances came from the bench.

Trundle returned to Swansea on loan in August last year, a deal that was extended to take in the rest of the season.

He made just two starts in that time, but managed five goals from 20 appearances.

"I think everyone is sad to see Lee leave the club," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.

"I'm sure Lee will be back involved with Swansea City in some capacity in the future.

"In the meantime, everyone wishes him well for his next challenge."
