Flamboyant striker Lee Trundle started his career in non-league
Lee Trundle has played down suggestions that he is set for a move to Blue Square Premier new boys Newport County.
The 33-year-old striker was released by Championship Bristol City last month and is searching for a new club.
Trundle, signed for £1m by the Ashton Gate club from Swansea City in 2007, returned to the Swans for a loan spell back at his 'adopted home' last season.
Trundle is now a free agent and County have inquired about his availability but he hopes to remain in the league.
The flamboyant frontman Swans fans call 'Magic Daps' hopes to make his Swans stay permanent but is awaiting a call by boss Paulo Sousa.
Trundle's silky skills earned him a reputation as an entertainer but he made just two starts in his season-long loan at the Liberty Stadium last season, scoring five goals.
Trundle played in non-league until Wrexham signed him aged 24 so he told BBC Sport he hopes to remain in the Football League as long as he can.
