Trundle admits Swans move worry

Swansea City striker Lee Trundle admits making his loan move from Bristol City permanently is "playing on his mind."

The 33-year-old returned to the Liberty Stadium on a four-month loan deal in August and wants to stay for good.

"The contract is playing on my mind a little bit as it is something I want to happen," Trundle told BBC Sport.

"The way to do that is by getting on the pitch and scoring some goals as I'm really enjoying training again and being back around the city."

Trundle's loan move to Swansea expires on New Year's Day but the popular Scouser hopes to remain in in his "adopted home."

Trundle enjoyed a hugely-successful four-year first stint at Swansea, scoring 85 goals in 151 starts, where his goals inspired the Swans to League Two promotion before he joined Bristol City in a £1m move.

Trundle gladly answered Swansea's striker SOS in the summer and hopes to remain with Paulo Sousa's men on a full-time basis.

"It's in Swansea's hands. I think it's already been sorted so hopefully that's the case," he told BBC Sport.

"At the minute I'm just getting my head down, working hard in training and trying to get on that pitch.

"If I'm on there and grab myself a few more goals and a few more good performances then hopefully it'll be in my own hands."

Trundle is a cult hero to Swansea fans and returned to the club in August two years after leaving for Ashton Gate.

The man known as 'Magic Daps' struggled to make an impact at the Robins, with seven goals in 58 league and cup appearances, most of them coming from the bench.

Jason Scotland proved an able replacement for Trundle at the Liberty Stadium but he joined Wigan in the summer.

Early season injuries to Stephen Dobbie and Guillem Bauza and suspension to Gorka Pintado left the Swans short of cover up front, prompting manager Paulo Sousa to swoop for Trundle and splash out £800,000 to West Bromwich Albion for Craig Beattie.

The Swans, who have the best defensive record in the division, have continued to struggle for goals, although Beattie has struck two in his last three games.

Trundle has started one Championship game and made four substitute appearances since his return to Swansea, scoring twice.
