Monk played alongside Martinez before the Spaniard turned to management
Swansea City captain Garry Monk says it would be an "absolutely massive blow" if manager Roberto Martinez was to leave the club.
Celtic and Wigan have made approaches for the Spaniard who has impressed in just two years as a manager.
He led the Swans to the League One title and last season guided them to a credible eighth in the Championship.
"We want the gaffer to continue the work he's been doing with the players here," Monk, 30, told BBC Wales.
"It's worrying. Since the gaffer has come in, he and the staff he's brought in with him are the biggest reasons why we've done so well in the last couple of years.
"The biggest factor is especially himself and is the reason why the success has been coming and everyone is talking about us.
"Obviously with success comes the inevitable like this.
"The gaffer has done so well and like players, he's going to get linked with bigger clubs."
Martinez is one of British football's youngest managers at 35, and has has earned rave reviews for his exciting brand of attacking, skilful football.
Swansea have so far refused Celtic and Wigan permission to talk to Martinez and have demanded compensation in excess of £2m.
And Monk, who played alongside the Spaniard as a player, hopes he will still be at the Liberty Stadium next season as the Swans aim to reach the Premier League.
"When you look at last season when watching Burnley going up [via the play-offs], we realised that's how much we could've done it," said Monk.
"We've enjoyed it so much and so many players have improved under him. I feel there's more improvement to come for the boys."
Monk accepts Martinez will "move on to bigger and better things" eventually and admits it would be hard for whoever comes in to replace him.
"Unfortunately if the worst did happen, us as players get on with it and whoever comes in is a bit unfortunate having to follow after the gaffer," said Monk.
"He set a very high standard. He's done so well in a very short period.
"We are all now in the psyche of playing football and what people call total football.
"To come in now and maybe have to change that to something else will be difficult for a lot of players because a lot of players are suited to the way we play."
