Stephen O'Halloran will be a Swan for three months
Swansea City have signed Aston Villa left back Stephen O'Halloran from Premier League Aston Villa on loan as cover for the injured Marcos Painter.
Republic of Ireland international O'Halloran, 20, comes to the Liberty Stadium on a three-month deal.
Painter will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a snapped cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Painter was injured when his studs got caught in the turf during their 3-0 win over Southampton 10 days ago.
The 22-year-old is set to miss the rest of the season, but he is confident of making a full recovery.
"I'm not going to rush the recovery," he said.
"I'm going to follow the medical advice and take it steadily to make sure my knee's right before I come back."
Painter will travel to Bristol for his operation which will be carried out by sports injury expert and former England rugby international Jonathan Webb.
Meanwhile, Swansea's Championship trip to Burnley on Saturday, 10 January will be televised and will now kick off at 1720 GMT.
