Swansea goalkeeper Dorus de Vries will be out for at least six weeks after it was confirmed he has a hairline jaw and depressed cheekbone fractures.

The Dutchman, 27, suffered his injury in Tuesday's 0-0 home draw after a challeng from Queens Park Rangers captain Martin Rowlands.

De Vries underwent surgery on Wednesday at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.

Meanwhile, midfielder Joe Allen has had his loan at Wrexham cut short after suffering ankle ligament damage.

606: DEBATE
The Wales Under-21 international has been an immediate hit at the Racecourse Ground after joining Wrexham on an initial one-month deal.

Allen enjoyed a dream debut as his 25-yard stunner inspired the Dragons to a 3-1 Blue Square Premier League win over York City.

But the 18-year-old midfielder was injured during a Wrexham training session and is expected to out of action for up to a month.

"We are waiting to assess Joe when he returns,'' physio Richie Evans told the Swansea website.

"But early indications suggest ankle ligament damage which will keep him out for between two and four weeks.''
