Willy Gueret fell out of favour at the Liberty Stadium |
Goalkeeper Willy Gueret has completed his free transfer from Swansea City to Milton Keynes Dons. The Frenchman, 34, was the Swans' first choice keeper last term but new signing Dorus De Vries is now in pole position.
Gueret played for the Dons last week as they lost 1-0 to Kettering Town in a friendly, but it took until late Friday to complete the formalities.
Swansea have failed in a loan bid for Liverpool's David Martin, who is third-choice keeper at Anfield.
Martin, 21, is the son of West Ham legend Alvin, but is having to bide his time with Liverpool behind Jose Reina and Scott Carson.
De Vries is the only senior keeper left on the Liberty Stadium roster, with youth-teamer Callum Hawthorne taken to Oldham as cover.
Gueret joins former Swans striker Leon Knight at the Dons.
Frenchman Gueret enjoyed a fine first season at the Swans after joining from Millwall on a three-year deal in 2004.
Last summer he was given a new two-year deal by then Swansea manager Kenny Jackett, committing Gueret to the Liberty Stadium until 2008.
But the keeper has fallen out of favour with current Swans boss Roberto Martinez.
