Gueret was the subject of a recent bid from MK Dons |
Goalkeeper Willy Gueret has signed a new two-year Swansea deal, committing him to the Liberty Stadium until 2008. The Frenchman, 32, enjoyed a fine first season at the Swans after joining from Millwall on a three-year deal in 2004.
His form dipped last season and he was the subject of a 100,000 bid from MK Dons last month, but manager Kenny Jackett was pleased to secure his man.
"Discussions were completed very quickly, Willy is very fit and we have every confidence in him," said Jackett.
"It was refreshing to see his commitment to the club, it's our aim to keep players who really want to play for us."
Jackett's comments on commitment come as speculation continues to surround the Swansea futures of defender Sam Ricketts and midfielder Andy Robinson.
The Swansea boss is still seeking goalkeeping cover for Gueret, and currently has Mikel Herbet and Andy Oakes on trial at the west Wales club.
Swansea reserve striker Mark Pritchard is expected to sign for Aldershot.
