Swans send Williams to specialist
Swansea City's Tom Williams
Williams is facing his second hernia surgery of the season
Swansea City will send Tom Williams to Germany for his hernia operation in a bid to speed the defender's comeback.

It had been feared that Williams would be out for several weeks but Swansea are hopeful his recovery time could be reduced to as little as a fortnight.

The versatile left-sided player, 26, missed six weeks earlier this season after having surgery on his left side.

Although this will be Williams' second hernia operation this season, the injury is not on the same side.

Williams will fly out to Germany at the end of the week for an operation at the Munich Hernia Centre, where they are leading the way in a relatively new technique.

Swans physio Richie Evans told the club website: "They have been sporting some good results in term of rehabilitation times.

"The operation is carried out with local anaesthetic and is less invasive than the traditional techniques.

"Under the old techniques the rehabilitation would normally take between four to six weeks.

"But the players that have gone to Germany for the new operation have been back playing after just two weeks.''
