Swansea had tried to nurse Williams through the injury |
Swansea left-back Tom Williams will undergo a hernia operation on Monday. The Cyprus international, 26, has been playing through the pain, but Swansea have had to concede that they cannot nurse him through the whole season.
"It's a big blow," manager Kenny Jackett told the South Wales Evening Post. "Kevin Austin can play left-back, but we may look for some loan cover."
Meanwhile, 17-year-old midfielder Scott Evans looks set to return to hometown club Swansea from Manchester City.
Kevin Keegan took Evans to the City of Manchester ground two years ago, fighting off interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
