Butler has won two caps for the Republic of Ireland |
Swansea have completed the signing of Hartlepool midfielder Thomas Butler and Yeovil defender Kevin Amankwaah. The pair have signed on undisclosed fees and are clear to play in Saturday's friendly at Exeter.
Republic of Ireland international Butler, 25, issued a transfer request after Hartlepool's relegation to League Two last season.
"He has great attacking potential and is out to kick-start his career," said Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins.
Butler started his career with Sunderland - where he made nine appearances in the Premiership in the 2002/03 season - and joined Hartlepool from Dunfermline for a free in March 2005.
He put in a transfer request following Hartlepool's relegation to League Two at the end of last season.
His arrival at Swansea could hint at Andy Robinson's exit, the Scouse midfielder having been linked with a move to Cardiff.
