Jones has made great strides in his first season as a professional |
Owain Tudur Jones says his first Wales call-up has topped a remarkable debut season in professional football. The Swansea City midfielder has been named in the squad to face a Basque XI and Trinidad and Tobago later in May.
"It's fantastic. I'm thoroughly looking forward to the opportunity to be coached by the likes of John Toshack and Roy Evans," said the 21-year-old.
"I've followed Wales since I was a kid and hopefully now I'll get the opportunity to represent my country."
Jones signed his first professional contract last summer after joining Swansea for 5,000 on a one-year deal from semi-professional side Bangor City.

He got his first taste of international football a month later when he came on as substitute for Wales Under-21 in a friendly against Malta - four days before making his starting debut for Swansea.
And so impressive were his early-season performances that Swansea gave him an extended contract just two months after Jones' arrival
"This season has been something to cherish and remember forever," added Jones, who will aim to help Swansea claim a League One play-off place on Saturday.
"It's been an up and down season with the injuries I've had, but most of the things that have happened are things I can look back on with pride.
"All I was trying to do was establish myself as a League One player for Swansea and improve as a player.
"Although I heard a few rumours that I was being watched, I never thought about being picked for Wales. But this is fantastic news."
Despite the obvious pride in being selected for Wales, Jones admits he would prefer not to be on the plane to Spain at the end of May.
He explained: "If I'm in the squad, that would mean that Swansea would not have made to the play-off final (on Saturday 27 May).
"That's the priority, but whatever happens it's sure to be a May to remember for me."
