"It's a good feeling, I needed that," said the 24-year-old Kiwi, who had failed to score in 10 games since his �300,000 move from Swindon in January.

"I didn't have much to do for it and should have got more, but it's nice to score in a final and get off the mark.

"I'd like to thank the fans, the boys and the staff who've stuck by me, hopefully there's more to come."

Fallon's manager Kenny Jackett was also relieved that his big-money signing - the second most expensive in the club's history - had got off the mark.

"That was a big night for Rory and he's done well," Jackett told BBC Sport Wales.

"We've been pleased with him, he's young and is going to be a very good forward for the club.

"We knew Wrexham would make it tough for us, but we got the job done and now there's another cup final to look forward to on Sunday."

Man-of-the match Leon Britton also paid tribute to Wrexham.

"They made us work in the second half and we were hanging on at the end," said the midfielder.

"We knew they were a good team, the first goal was so important for us.

"Then it was great for Rory to score, we've all been wanting him to get off the mark.

"All the lads have had belief in him, hopefully that's the first of many."
