Sunderland goalkeeper Mignolet praises rival Gordon
Mignolet has kept eight clean sheets for Sunderland this season
Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet says working with first-team rival Craig Gordon in training continues to help him develop as a player.
Mignolet has impressed following his move from Belgian side Sint Truidense in June, making 14 appearances and keeping eight clean sheets.
"I know Craig's a good goalkeeper. We work hard together, we try to push each other," Mignolet told BBC Newcastle.
"If he plays next week I will support him, and I hope he would support me."
The Belgium under-21 international continued: "If I work hard and he works hard we can only get better."
Mignolet's return to the side in Saturday's goalless draw with Fulham was his first start since November's 2-0 win at home to Stoke City.
"We worked hard, we defended well, but if we get the ball we have to try to create something and make some chances and we didn't do that today," he added.
"It was a good team effort and we kept a clean sheet. We got a point away from home which isn't always easy.
"For Sunderland, a point away from home is always good and as a goalkeeper I have to be happy with a clean sheet."
