Sunderland goalkeeper Mignolet reveals Gordon rapport
Mignolet has conceded just seven goals in seven games at Sunderland
Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has spoken of the positive relationship he and fellow goalkeeper Craig Gordon share following his move to Wearside.
Mignolet, 22, was signed from Saint Truidense in June, and has surprisingly established himself as manager Steve Bruce's first-choice between the posts.
"There's a good competition between us, but me and Craig work very well together," Mignolet told BBC Newcastle.
"We are next to each other in the dressing room and speak a lot."
Mignolet added: "From the first day I came here Craig helped me a lot, we spoke a lot."
The Belgium under-21 international, who won his last cap against France in August, arrived at the Stadium of Light as a future prospect.
However a recurring arm injury to Gordon and the departure of Marton Fulop to Ipswich Town handed the Sint-Truiden born shot-stopper a first-team chance.
"When you get injured and lose your place in the team because of injury it is always difficult," Mignolet conceded.
"I understand that 100%, but in football sometimes things happen, and you have to live with it.
"When I signed here I didn't expect to play from the beginning, and after three months I've played nine competitive games.
"I have to be very happy with that and I thank the club for the opportunity."
