Sunderland striker Darren Bent will miss England's friendly against France on 17 November after a scan showed he has a grade one hamstring injury.
Bent is set to be sidelined for up to three weeks with the problem, suffered before Saturday's win over Stoke.
The 26-year-old, who had not previously missed a league game for Sunderland, scored eight club goals this season.
His first England goal came in September's 3-1 Euro 2012 qualifier victory over Switzerland.
In his absence, Sunderland's record signing Asamoah Gyan scored both goals in the 2-0 win against Stoke.
