Collins confident ahead of Spurs

Sunderland defender Danny Collins believes the Black Cats are more than capable of getting a result against Tottenham on Saturday.

Spurs have improved since their opening day defeat on Wearside but Collins feels last weekend's win over Portsmouth will give them belief.

He told BBC Radio Newcastle: "They've picked up, got a few players back and are playing some good football."

"But we'll go down there confident and hopefully get at least a point."

Collins has made the left-back berth his own over the last few seasons, and found playing in the Premiership has helped to develop him as a player.

He said: "I didn't do too bad last season having played 40 games but I feel I've come along this season too.

"Just watching one or two experienced left backs in that position, like Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole, has helped me as well."
