Pennant joined Stoke on a six- month loan deal in August
Stoke winger Jermaine Pennant will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the hamstring injury he suffered at West Brom on Saturday.
Pennant, 27 was substituted after just 11 minutes of the 3-0 win and could now miss this weekend's home game with Manchester City.
Potters first team coach Mark O'Connor told BBC Radio Stoke: "Hopefully we caught it early enough.
"He might be struggling at the weekend but I don't think it'll be long term."
The on-loan Real Zaragoza wide-man has been in good form this season and the club have indicated a desire to make his move permanent during the January transfer window.
Pennant has featured in 10 games for Stoke this season but O'Connor admits that injuries like this are always a threat to players who rely on pace.
"He's a fit boy but I think those type of players who are explosive and quick on the turn are more susceptible to those sort of hamstring injuries.
"It was a damp, cold afternoon, perhaps he didn't warm up as well as he should, I really don't know, it can happen," he added.
