Selection headache for Stoke City

Tony Pulis
Pulis' side face Birmingham in a Midlands derby on Monday

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis will be without several members of his first-team squad for Monday's Midlands derby against Birmingham City.

Midfielders Glenn Whelan and Salif Diao are both suspended while defenders Robert Huth and Andy Wilkinson are both doubtful because of injury.

Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "Andy's felt something pull around his knee and Robert's hurt his knee as well.

"We may have a few problems but we'll have to wait and see."

Whelan and Diao both picked up their fifth bookings of the season in the 2-0 Boxing Day defeat at Manchester City.

Stoke go in to Monday's game at home to Midlands rivals Birmingham without a win in their last five games, Blues are unbeaten in their last 10 in the Premier League.

Pulis added: "Birmingham are the form team at the moment, Alex [McLeish] has done a remarkable job there.

"They will be full of confidence because it's a local derby and they have sold out".
