Lawrence has won three full caps for the Republic of Ireland
Liam Lawrence is "keeping his fingers crossed" that he will be involved for the Republic of Ireland in their World Cup play-off games against France.
The Stoke midfielder started in the 2-2 draw against world champions Italy in October, setting up the opening goal for Potters team-mate Glenn Whelan.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Everybody's fit now and even people like Steven Reid didn't get a call-up.
"It's going to be tough for places, so I'll keep my fingers crossed."
Giovanni Trapattoni's side are at home in the first leg on Saturday, with the return leg taking place on Wednesday.
"They're two massive games for us," added Lawrence. "We'll just have to give it our best at home and see if we can get something away, and hopefully we can qualify for the World Cup."
We've got Thomas Sorensen playing in the World Cup and it would be fantastic if Liam and Glenn could do the same
Stoke manager Tony Pulis
Although he is beginning to establish himself at international level, Lawrence has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Stoke team this season.
The former Sunderland winger has not started a Premier League match since the 2-0 defeat against Manchester United on 26 September.
However, his club manager Tony Pulis said that it would be a huge fillip for Stoke if the Republic of Ireland make it to the World Cup finals in South Africa next year.
"We've got Thomas Sorensen playing in the World Cup (with Denmark), and it would be fantastic if Liam and Glenn could do the same," said the Stoke boss.
"They're both great lads, they've worked really hard for their football club, and fingers crossed, they can beat the French."
If the Republic get through, it will be the first time they have qualified for a major tournament since the 2002 World Cup.
