Reid has coached Thailand's national team since September 2008
Stoke midfielder Liam Lawrence believes his team will benefit from Peter Reid's experience when he is named as assistant to boss Tony Pulis.
Former Sunderland and Coventry boss Reid, 53, watched the 0-0 draw at Birmingham on Saturday and is expected to be appointed on Monday.
Lawrence told BBC Radio Stoke: "He's got a wealth of experience. He's been and done it in the Premier League.
"His knowledge of the game is going to be very precious for us."
Reid has spent almost a year as coach of the Thailand national team, but has not been involved in English club football since January 2005 when he was sacked by Coventry.
Pulis already has the experience of Gerry Francis and John Rudge to call upon in his backroom staff, while former assistant Dave Kemp is now part of Stoke's scouting network.
