Whitehead made his Stoke debut in the 2-0 win against Burnley
Midfielder Dean Whitehead believes Stoke City have a genuine chance of beating Liverpool on Wednesday.
Tony Pulis's side produced a brilliant defensive display to force a goalless draw at Anfield last season.
"We've got to go there, we've got to be solid and not give too much away," Whitehead told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Nothing's impossible in this league, we can go there and win, but everyone has to be on top of their game," added the £3m summer signing from Sunderland.
"We know we're not going to see much of the ball but if we can keep a good shape and be a solid unit, there's no reason why we can't get something on the break."
The Potters began the campaign with a 2-0 victory over promoted Burnley at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, while the Premier League runners-up lost 2-1 at Tottenham 24 hours later.
Both games between the two teams in the Premier League last season ended in 0-0 draws.
