Stoke City midfielder Michael Tonge has said he would consider a temporary move away, but is not actively looking to leave the Premier League club.

Tonge has not started a Premier League game for the Potters since 5 October.

"It's a possibility, I'll speak to the boss and see if it's something he wants to do," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"We have got a big squad but we've got injuries and suspensions to cope with. You need the match sharpness and a few reserve games would help."

Tonge added: "From a player's point of view, you come into training to try and improve and take that into a game, so when you're not playing it's disappointing.

"Clubs have big squads these days and it's part and parcel of football. It's about keeping your mind focused and being ready when you do get the opportunity."

The 25-year-old was one of three players signed by Stoke manager Tony Pulis on transfer deadline day in September, moving for 2m from Sheffield United.

Pulis has allowed two other summer signings, Tom Soares and Andrew Davies, to join Championship sides Charlton and Preston respectively.
